Spaghetti with homemade sauce, whole grain pasta and sauteed green beans

So…..my family loves spaghetti. I have to tell you though, we had to work our way through the assortment of whole grain pasta’s before I found what we like. The trick is WHOLE WHEAT SEMOLINA. That is were the magic happens. If you think you don’t like whole grain pasta, check to see if your brand has whole wheat semolina or just whole wheat. To me the taste and texture are very different. Semolina is 100% better. Try it!

If you are into food storage–this is a great food storage recipe.

Tiffany’s Spaghetti Sauce

1 lb. ground beef

1-2 tsp dehydrated onion and garlic flakes

1 tbsp dehydrated red and green bell pepper

2 cans diced tomatoes or 1 quart (if you make your own)

1 can tomato paste and 1 can water

2 tsp raw honey

Sea salt, black pepper, italian seasoning, parsley

Brown the ground beef, season with the above. Add the dehydrated onion, garlic, and bell peppers. Stir in the tomatoes,  tomato paste, water and honey. Simmer for 20-30 minutes. Top it off with fresh grated parmesan and red pepper flakes if you like heat.

I always throw in 1-2 loose cups of fresh spinach. It’s just another way to get more greens.

You can also use this sauce for Lasagne.
